Before we even give birth, many of us spend a Saturday learning Infant and Child First Aid and CPR. We have first aid books and first aid kits and ipecac syrup and buy everything available at Babies &#8220;R&#8221; Us that has the word &#8220;safety&#8221; on the package.<\/p>\n<p>We would know exactly what to do if a child was choking or bleeding or broke an arm.<\/p>\n<p>But despite the fact that one in five Americans experience some form of mental illness, just about none of us would know what to do if we encountered a person having a panic attack or was having suicidal thoughts or was suffering from postpartum depression.
